What is Botox?
Botox is the most popular injectable neuromodulator available today. Made primarily of botulinum toxin, the solution temporarily stops certain muscles from contracting, smoothing out wrinkles around the eyes. However, Botox is not only for erasing fine lines and wrinkles. It’s also been effective at addressing a lazy eye, excessive tearing, muscle spasms, and eyelids that turn in.
Who is a Good Candidate for Botox?
A good candidate for Botox in Wilmington is typically an adult in generally good health with realistic expectations. It’s also great for those with lines and wrinkles, a lazy eye, excess tears, or muscle spasms. During your consultation, our team will be able to better determine if Botox is right for you.
What to Expect with Botox Treatment
Botox treatment in Wilmington is relatively simple. First, we’ll cleanse the area, and if necessary, we can apply topical anesthetic to ensure your comfort. From there, we’ll use a very fine needle to inject the Botox solution into the targeted area. Once your treatment is finished, you can go back to most of your normal activities.
After Treatment
After treatment, you may see some redness, swelling, and bruising, but these side effects will subside on their own. As you recover, you’ll want to avoid rubbing or putting pressure on the treatment area for the first 12 hours and avoid lying down for 3-4 hours. While you can do most of your normal activities, you will want to avoid strenuous activities for at least the first 24 hours.
